City Examines Flood Mitigation Costs
The City of Vernon expects to spend 125-thousand dollars to remove sediment from creeks, and reduce other flood threats this spring.
City crews recently removed 75 tandem loads of sediment from BX Creek in the problem area of 48th Avenue and 20th Street.
Despite that, a resident in that area is trying to fend off the high water levels again this year.
Public works manager James Rice says in a report to council, city staff will be working with consultants to develop a plan to address a number of issues associated with creeks and crossings over the next few weeks.
