New Name For Well-Known Park

Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park in the North Shuswap is one of three BC parks to be renamed as part of the province’s reconciliation efforts with Indigenous communities.

The provincial park, famous for hosting the Adams River Sockeye salmon return every fall, will now go by its Secwepemc name “Tsútswecw Park,” which means “many fish.”

The park was established in 1989 and named after Canadian writer and conservationist Roderick Haig-Brown.
