Reservoirs Levels ‘Rising Fast’

May 3, 2018 | 4:37 PM

The warmer weather and snow melt is quickly increasing the levels in the Duteau Creek water reservoirs.

The Regional District of North Okanagan says the levels are “rising fast” and expects the storage facilities will spill (overflow) in the coming weeks.

RDNO water staff say the reservoir levels have been below normal since last summer, and as of May 1, they were 26-hundred mega litres — or 22% — below average.

“Persons living or working near creeks and streams should be aware that stream water levels may rise quickly during this time and should exercise caution around the fast moving water,” says the RDNO release.
