Task Force To Study Small Business Needs

May 2, 2018 | 4:30 PM

A task force will hit the road next month, getting input on what small businesses need from the provincial government.

Lawyer Michael Hwang, founder and principal lawyer at Amicus Lawyers, will head the three member committee, which will hold seven consultation sessions in June.

“Small businesses have unique needs, and our job as the task force, is to seek out perspectives from those who know those needs the best: small business owners and entrepreneurs,” Hwang told a news conference.

The task force will be in Kelowna June 28.

“There are a number of locations they will be visiting, and then they will report back in the fall,” says Jobs and Trades Minister Bruce Ralston.

People will also be able to give input online.

The other task force members are Cybele Negris, vice-chair of B.C.’s Small Business Roundtable and CEO and co-founder of Webnames.ca, and Shahraz Kassam, owner and CEO of Shamin Diamonds.

The Small Business Task Force will hold consultations in the following cities:

June 6 – Surrey

June 8 – Nanaimo

June 13 – Terrace

June 14 – Prince George

June 18 – Richmond

June 26 – Cranbrook

June 28 – Kelowna
