Killiney Beach Evac Order Continues

Apr 30, 2018 | 1:15 PM

An evacuation order for 12 properties at Killiney Beach, north of Fintry, remains in effect until further notice.

A release from the Central Okanagan Regional District on Monday states that only when conditions are safe, will the order will be rescinded and residents allowed to return.

Meanwhile, crews from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure continue working on repairs to stabilize Westside Road following a landslide on the weekend that affected the road and downed power lines.

“As well, an assessment is required to confirm the stability of area slopes in order to protect the road and the one dozen properties below that are subject to the evacuation order,” states the release.

Two residents were displaced and have made alternate arrangements for accommodation, according to CORD.

Ongoing work and monitoring is taking place in regards to ditching and drainage through the area.

Residents in Killiney Beach with questions or concerns about drainage can contact the MOTI Kelowna Office at 250-712-3660.

Until further notice, single lane alternating traffic is in place through that section of Westside Road in Killiney Beach.
