Raising Awareness Of Seniors Services

A project to raise awareness about community-based seniors services is making progress in Vernon.

Kristine Larsen, project lead from the the Shuswap North Okanagan Division of Family Practice, says some key decisions came out of a recent community consultation.

“One is that we will move forward and establish a community coalition that will focus on ongoing projects that will hopefully enhance the health and well being of seniors in the Vernon area,” Larsen told Vernon council.

Larsen says the division has agreed to fund a coordinator for the project until March 2019, and action teams will be formed to focus on areas like physical activity, transportation, education, and nutritional support for seniors.
