The City of Kelowna is no slouch when it comes to meeting the provincial government’s new house build targets.
Back in June 2024 the province set a total of almost 8,800 new homes over a five year period.
After just two reporting years Kelowna has exceeded the year 3 cumulative target of 4,500 units and is approaching the year 4 cumulative target of almost 6,500 units. That effectively puts the city two years ahead of schedule.
A report to next week’s council meeting shows The City is currently reaching the tail end of high-volume residential construction activity and it’s likely there will be declining residential occupancy volumes in the next three years.
