Update: Pedestrian Hit

RCMP news release:

RCMP are investigating a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 6 and Middleton Way, Vernon.

On January 18th, 2018, shortly after 5:00 pm the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to Highway 6 and Middleton Way to find a pedestrian, a 24 year old Vernon woman, being treated by emergency crews. The victim sustained minor injuries, however was transported to the nearest medical facility for precaution.

“Police are still investigating the collision and continue to interview the persons involved,” says Constable Kelly Brett. “The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.”Cst. Kelly Brett. “Cause is still yet to be determined, however it is a good reminder to motorists to slow down and pay extra attention to the road when the conditions are icy.”

The 24 year old Vernon woman was released from hospital shortly after she was transported.


Police and other emergency crews are responding to a motor vehicle incident in Vernon.

Reports say a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at Highway 6 near Middleton Way.

Vernon RCMP have been contacted for more details.
