Safety Concerns Over Low Lighting In Okanagan Landing

A Vernon councillor has shed some light on what she feels is a growing concern in Okanagan Landing.

Dalvir Nahal says there should be better lighting on Okanagan Avenue near Longacre Drive, to prevent what could be a tragedy.

“I’m noticing with all the new development, there is a lot more people walking their dogs, and I’ve also noticed that people are driving excessively on that road,” Nahal tells Beach Radio News.

Nahal has asked city staff to do a traffic study for that area.

“I’m worried if it’s dark and night, and somebody is walking, they’re going to get hit by a car, so it’s time to reassess and do a study to see if we need to have lights on that avenue,” adds Nahal.
