Busy Year For New Homes

Vernon had a busier year for new home construction in 2017.

Canada Mortgage and Housing says 398 new homes were started in the area, about 75 more than the previous year.

About 53 percent were single family homes, with the rest multiples.

The Kelowna area had almost 36-hundred starts, up 14-hundred from 2016, and the Central Okanagan’s strongest year since records started in 1977.

About 75% of the new starts were apartments and condos.
