Update: Traffic Control Personnel Change Site For Safety Event

UPDATE:

There’s a new site for an awareness rally by traffic control personnel.

It was originally going to be on Highway 6 in Lavington, but it’s been moved to Highway 97 by the army camp in Vernon.

The time is the same, from 10 am to noon on Saturday,  as TCP’s will line the highway to make drivers aware of their safety.

Organizers didn’t feel right about holding it where a 66 year old female flag person was critically injured after being hit by a car last Friday.

Nov. 20:

Traffic control personnel are taking a stand — for their safety.

Adriana Wilson from Frontline Traffic Control says all TCPs in the Okanagan are asked to meet this Saturday at 9 am on School Rd in Lavington.

The workers will line both sides of Highway 6 from 10 am to noon to make motorists aware that they are out there and to show support for the woman injured last week.

“That we are mothers, sisters, wives, husbands, fathers ect. And that we want to go home at the end of the day. If you are a TCP in this area please come join us dressed in full PPE with paddles on slow!,” says Wilson in a social media posting.

A 66 year old traffic controller was hit by a car Friday, and is in critical condition in Kelowna hospital.
