Democrat Jamie Ager wins election to U.S. House in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District

Democrat Jamie Ager won election Tuesday to the U.S. House of Representatives representing North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District, defeating Republican Jennifer Balkcom. Ager won despite a strong Republican voting history in the western North Carolina district. He owns a business selling pasture-raised meats and says his family has a long history of farming in the area. Balkcom, a state legislator, became the Republican nominee after incumbent Rep. Chuck Edwards suspended his re-election campaign in August. The Associated Press declared Ager the winner at 8:53 p.m. EST.
