Drug Alert

Safety urged after two suspected overdoses within a day in Salmon Arm

Oct 27, 2026 | 11:32 AM

Mounties are warning about a potent drug supply found in Salmon Arm.

Police responded to two suspected overdoses over a 24 hour period, and are urging people to not use any illicit substance or drug.

People who do use drugs were advised to carry and know how to use Naloxone.

A specific drug involved in these cases was not immediately identified, but Interior Health did issue a drug alert for Kamloops on October 22 for counterfeit pills being sold as Dilaudid, dillies, or hydromorphone.

The pills did not contain hydromorphone and instead contain isotonitazene, an opioid that could be up to 50 times stronger than fentanyl and pose a very high risk of overdose.

Salmon Arm RCMP urged anyone experience or witnessing an overdose call 911 immediately.
