Oct 8, 2026 | 10:29 AM

Lake Country voters turned out in significantly greater numbers for the first day of advance voting in this year’s municipal election.

The District says 709 ballots were cast Wednesday, more than double the 342 ballots recorded on the first advance voting day in 2022. There are about 14,083 eligible voters in Lake Country for this year’s election.

Voters will have another opportunity to cast their ballots Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Lake Country Municipal Hall.

General voting day is Saturday, Oct. 17, with polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at George Elliot Secondary School.

Lake Country voters will elect a mayor, two councillors at large, a councillor representing their neighbourhood constituency and a school trustee.

Voters must provide two pieces of identification when they cast their ballot. At least one must include a signature, and the identification must establish both identity and residency; photo identification is not required.

Eligible voters can also apply to cast a mail ballot until 4 p.m. Oct. 15, with completed ballots required to reach the district by 8 p.m. Oct. 17
