‘Come together, rebuild trust’: Local BC conservative MLA reacts to Findlay resignation

A local BC Conservative MLA said the next step is to “…come together, rebuild trust, and make sure we are focused on the job British Columbians elected us to do.”

In an email to Vernon Matters, MLA for Kelowna Centre, Kristina Loewen, said the party has the opportunity to put their differences aside following the resignation of party leader Kerry-Lynn Findlay on Sunday. The opposition Conservatives have been in turmoil in recent months, resulting in a total of 14 MLAs either quitting the ranks or being ousted, amid criticism of Findlay’s leadership style and the direction she had taken the party.

Loewen thanked Findlay for her service and said she admired the strength and grace she showed under incredible pressure.

“She brings a tremendous amount of experience and would be a formidable voice in the Legislature. She is still our candidate in Abbotsford-Mission, and I hope we see her win this Saturday [in a by-election], and join us in the Legislature this fall,” Loewen said.
