“Decisions about water, recreation, transportation and growth affect our residents for decades. They require careful analysis, long-term planning and a strong voice for Coldstream.”

If re-elected, Garlick said he would bring an evidence-based, collaborative approach to address a number of key issues in the coming term.

• Protecting Kalamalka Lake, Coldstream Creek, local groundwater and other natural assets
• Developing a drought-resilient and equitable water system for domestic and agricultural users
• Maintaining roads, drainage, parks, trails and essential infrastructure through responsible long-term planning
• Identify where pedestrian and cycling trails and improvements can be carried out for safety and recreation
• Balancing project cost and service levels with taxation and municipal spending accountable and sustainable
• Managing growth while protecting agricultural land and Coldstream’s rural character
• Working on communication and meaningful consultation with residents while balancing change
• Supporting emergency preparedness, fire protection and community resilience
• Ensuring Coldstream receives a fair return from regional services and partnerships
• Lobbying higher levels of government to support infrastructure through grant funding

“Experience is valuable when it is used to help Council make difficult, thoughtful decisions and to allow new ideas succeed,” Garlick said.

“I will continue to listen residents, work respectfully with others and base my decisions on what I believe will provide the greatest long-term benefit to Coldstream and the region.

“We cannot take Coldstream’s quality of life for granted. It has been built through generations of community involvement and careful planning. My goal is to preserve that legacy while ensuring Coldstream remains a safe, welcoming, financially responsible and resilient community.”

Votes will be cast for the local general election October 17.
