Banker and local business advocate seeking seat on Coldstream Council

A banker and involved community member will throw his hat into the ring for a seat on Coldstream Council.

Scot McNair announced he will run for the role in the fall municipal election.

McNair, a fourth-generation North Okanagan resident with 38 years of banking experience, said he has been a strong advocate for community and local business. Over the nearly four decades, he has held leadership roles with Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, and most recently as a business analyst for Community Futures North Okanagan.

In a release, McNair said he now wants to bring that experience and hands-on community leadership to the council chambers.

“This isn’t just about politics, it’s personal,” the candidate said.

“This is home, and should the community choose me to serve on council, it is a responsibility I will take very seriously.”

If elected, McNair said he would remain committed to community involvement and focus on economic development through supporting local entrepreneurs and business.

Votes will be cast for the local general election Oct. 17.
