Wildfire Update

Flare-ups expected but no growth forecasted at Bradley and Quilipituk Creeks wildfires

Aug 18, 2026 | 12:14 PM

Both fires on the northwest side of Okanagan Lake remain contained but some flare-up and smoke activity could take place.

The B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS)said hot, sunny weather today, coupled with gusting winds, could cause some flare-ups and increased smokiness at the Bradley Creek and Quilpituk Creek wildfires. Thunderstorms in the evening forecast could also stir up more activity, though in neither of these cases were the fires expected to spread beyond the established perimeters.

At the Bradley Creek fire, BCWS crews were patrolling the fire boundary and mopping-up any hot spots, while developing plans to move further infield into the fire scene for similar work in the coming days.

At the Quilpituk Creek fire, south of Fintry, crews were doing similar patrol and mop-up work, while also assessing and addressing danger trees.

At both fire scenes crews were also working to support B.C. Hydro as it repaired and replaced damaged infrastructure and worked to restore power to the areas.

As of Aug. 18, the BCWS had a combined 43 firefighters, two helicopters and 10 pieces of heavy equipment assigned to the two wildfires.

The provincial firefighting agency continued to remind boaters and drone and personal aircraft pilots to stay clear of the fire sites so as to not interfere with operations.
