Election 2026

New candidate looking to bring leadership experience to Vernon City Council

Aug 18, 2026 | 10:20 AM

A third-generation Vernonite is looking to take on a leadership role within the city.

Kari Statham announced she will run for a seat on Vernon City Council in the fall municipal election.

In a press release, Statham said she was running to ensure the city is safe, vibrant and thriving for generations to come.

“No local issue is too small if it matters to you,” the candidate stated.

“From housing and public safety to infrastructure, seniors, youth, and protecting our water, every concern deserves thoughtful leadership.”

Statham said, if elected, she would serve the public by listening to the needs of the community, leading and collaborating, and keeping an open mind to find practical and real-world solutions.

“My professional background has prepared me to tackle complex civic challenges. I have spent years in large-scale operations and leadership roles, learning how to oversee multi-million dollar budgets, manage complex logistics, and lead diverse teams,” Statham said.

“Currently, I serve as a regional manager for a local business right here in Vernon. In my work, you can’t just talk about problems—you have to solve them. You must watch the bottom line, listen to people, and deliver actual results. I am running for council to bring that exact financial accountability, strategic vision, and common-sense leadership to City Hall.”

She went on to say she was seeking a seat in the council chambers not because she has all the answers, but because she cares deeply about the city and is committed to working for Vernon residents.

“Together, we can build a safe, welcoming, and prepared future while preserving everything we already love about our hometown. Let’s move Vernon forward, together.”

The local general election is scheduled for Oct. 17.
