Kalamoir Park wildfire officially out
The wildfire near Kalamoir Regional Park that prompted evacuation orders earlier this month has now been declared out, according to West Kelowna Fire Rescue.
Fire Chief Jason Brolund said the decision was made in consultation with the BC Wildfire Service and regional partners after no smoke or fire activity was detected in the area for the past week.
“As of this morning, and in consultation with our partners at the BC Wildfire Service and Regional District Parks, the Kalamoir Park wildfire has been declared out,” Brolund said.
The fire had sparked a significant emergency response in mid June, including evacuation orders for homes in parts of West Kelowna as crews worked to stop the blaze from spreading toward residential neighbourhoods.
