Lake Country Skateboard Park Facelift

Jul 10, 2017 | 6:21 AM

The Skateboard Park in Swalwell Park in Lake Country is set to get a rebuild.

The District has now approved a contract for Canadian Ramp Company to upgrade the facility.

Mayor James Baker says the District has been working with skateboarders who wanted a more professional challenge.

“Skateboard parks have evolved considerably since those days many years ago. It was shortly after we incorporated that a group came to us and
wanted a skateboard park so it`s 20 years at least.“

Baker says the park is getting a complete revamp.

“It`ll be virtually a whole new one. They`re updating the old one. It`s going to integrate into Swalwell Park much more with this new design.“

The design will flow into the water park.

`We have the activities in the splash park that were siblings of some of an age that want to just run through the sprinklers. Others of the age that wopuld like to use the skateboard. We`ll integrate the two activities.”

The District had budgeted 250 thousand dollars for the project.`

Work should begin shortly.
