Drugs, weapons seized in West Kelowna search warrant

Police say drugs, weapons and trafficking equipment were seized during the execution of a search warrant in West Kelowna last week.

West Kelowna RCMP say officers carried out a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant Jan. 22 at a residence on McMorland Road in the Glenrosa neighbourhood.

The warrant followed what police described as an extensive investigation into a person believed to be living at the home and involved in drug trafficking.

Investigators say they seized more than one kilogram of suspected illegal drugs, along with numerous weapons, drug production equipment and items associated with drug trafficking.

Cpl. Bryan Mulrooney, who oversees the West Kelowna RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, said the enforcement action targeted drug trafficking and related criminal activity in the community.

Acting detachment commander Staff Sgt. Brendan Dolan said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal activity that poses a risk to neighbourhoods.

The investigation is continuing and police say charges are expected to be forwarded.
