Kelowna police investigate fatal assault on Springfield Road

Kelowna RCMP are investigating a fatal assault that left an 18-year-old man dead.

Police were called shortly after 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, to Springfield Road near Benvoulin Road, where a confrontation between two groups had taken place.

Officers found the young man with serious injuries. He was transported to Kelowna General Hospital by BC Emergency Health Services, where he later died.

The Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation. Authorities say the incident appears to have been targeted, but the circumstances are still under review.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the assault and has not yet spoken with police to come forward. The RCMP Serious Crime Unit can be reached at 250-762-3300.
