The North Okanagan Neurological Association’s annual Christmas fundraiser was a big success.

The 5th annual NONA Lights for Kids with John Christmas Light Tour raised $50,258.45 for the child development centre.

“We are immensely grateful for the overwhelming turnout and generosity of our community,” Alicia Ponich, Executive Director at NONA, said.

“This event not only highlights the spirit of giving but also demonstrates the importance of supporting our local businesses. Together, we are making a significant difference in the lives of children with developmental differences in our area and all funds raised this year will go towards mental health and wellness resources.”

The agency said the Lights for Kids event brought families and community members together for festive celebrations, while the Christmas Light Tour allowed people in Vernon, Coldstream and Armstrong to showcase their holiday cheer.

NONA also said their BBQ event attracted record crowds, and the light tour saw a record number of people follow the route and see the light displays.

“A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the John Christmas Light Tour!” John Christmas said.

“The displays were incredible and the community support was amazing. We’re already looking forward to next year!”

Local businesses also supported the cause, with participating establishments generating $5,500 through their Shop Local initiatives.
