Student Rideshare Pilot

Pilot program offering after-school transportation for local students

Jan 8, 2026 | 12:58 PM

A new program is available to help local high school students get to their extracurricular activities.

The Vernon-based non-profit, Get2Thr!, has partnered with local ride-sharing companies and Fulton Secondary School to provide families with safe, reliable transportation for youth in Grades 8 and 9 who participate in sports, arts, volunteering, and other activities.

Get2Thr! does not provide rides itself, but ensures students get a discounted rate through the partner companies, and that qualified families get free rides.

“Our mission is to remove transportation barriers so every young person can take part in the activities that help them learn, grow, and connect,” said Dave Weatherill, president of Get2Thr!.

“A unique aspect of the program is that Get2Thr! facilitates rides to be delivered by vetted drivers and services, and between known and approved locations, such as between school and practice after school, but only after we approve the locations and times. And then our ride-sharing service partners actually provide the rides,” Executive Director Dione Chambers added.

The pilot is presently focused on providing rides for Fulton students, but sports, arts, and community organizations across Vernon are encouraged to reach out to Get2Thr! to be incorporated into the program.
