Snowfall warning remains for Highway 1 from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass

Jan 7, 2026 | 10:22 AM

Snow continues to fall along Highway 1 between Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass, prompting Environment Canada to maintain a yellow-coded snowfall warning.

The agency reported 15 to 25 centimetres of snow are expected through the afternoon, with an additional five to ten centimetres possible before the snow tapers off later today.

Motorists are being advised to drive with caution, as visibility may be reduced at times and mountain weather can change rapidly. Environment Canada notes that this stretch of highway is the only area in British Columbia with an active weather alert on Wednesday morning.

Travelers are urged to check road conditions before heading out and to be prepared for winter driving in mountainous terrain.
