Kelowna General Hospital appoints new head of pediatric department

After a multi-week closure shocked the community earlier this year, Kelowna General Hospital is bringing new leadership to its pediatric department.

Dr. Jeff Wong, who officially took over in September 2025, brings years of pediatric experience from Hong Kong and across Canada.

Wong says his goal is to rebuild trust and create a system where every staff member is actively involved and heard. He adds that strong teamwork and a well-planned structure will ensure consistent, high-quality care for children and families in the Okanagan.

In a blog post on the Interior Health website, Wong said, “I consider myself a member of the Okanagan region. My children live here, and I believe the kids here deserve excellent pediatric care.”

He emphasizes that collaboration between doctors and nursing staff is key to delivering reliable, top-level care.
