Local agency ensuring school kids stay fed, have a good holiday

An annual campaign to support students and families facing hardships over the holidays is underway.

The Okanagan Learning Foundation has launched its Christmas Hamper initiative, where it puts together community donations of foods, essential items, and gifts, and delivers them to families in need.

The Learning Foundation says these hampers ensure students return to school after the holidays rested, nourished and ready to learn.

“Learning doesn’t end when the school bell rings. For many students, the holidays bring more worries than wonder,” a release from the Okanagan Learning Foundation said.

“You can help by donating or creating a hamper with your family, friends, or business. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference. Together, we can make this season brighter and share the true spirit of the holidays.”

People can learn more about how to donate to the cause or create their own hamper at the Okanagan Learning Foundation website.
