Funtastic providing scoreboards for the ALC

A local sport organization is providing the scoreboards for Vernon’s new recreation complex.

The City of Vernon has entered a sponsorship agreement with the Vernon and District Funtastic Sports Society, which is seeing the group providing some key items for the new Active Living Centre (ALC) gymnasium.

“Funtastic, we’re around because we like to give back and any profits we make we try to give back to our community through sport,” Funtastic President, Jamie Austin, told Vernon Matters.

“The board made a decision last year to donate a couple scoreclocks to the Active Living Centre.”

The agreement will also see Funtastic provide shot clocks and control panels, and in return the organization will have exclusive sponsorship of those items.

“With [the ALC] being such a new and prominent building in Vernon we wanted to be a part of it, so the best way for us to do it is to purchase the clocks for the City of Vernon and have our name live on there for as long as those clocks are running,” Austin added.

This won’t be the first sponsorship opportunity that Funtastic has taken advantage of, as the organization’s name is also up on the scoreboards at Lakeview and Marshall Parks.

A report from the City of Vernon said these items cost $43,575, plus GST.

Funtastic will be the sponsor for ten years, with the agreement coming to an end in September of 2036, or until the gymnasiums scoreboards reach the end of their life.
