The City says as it continues to grow, it will integrate into the broader active transportation network, fostering safer, more sustainable mobility for all.

The crossing offers a wide passage for walkers, cyclists, scooter riders and anyone with mobility issues. It features gentle slopes at either end as well as staircases for those who’d prefer quicker access/exit.

The City said the overpass not only enhances accessibility but also connects various neighbourhoods, fostering greater community integration, economic development and ease of movement across the city, whether walking, biking or rolling.

“A growing city needs a transportation system that prioritizes connectivity and accessibility, while also reducing traffic congestion,” Mayor Tom Dyas said. “The Bertram Multiuse Overpass showcases what we can achieve when all levels of government work together. With consistent and reliable infrastructure funding, local governments are empowered to prioritize the projects that matter most to their communities and deliver meaningful, lasting results.”
