Body found in water off Kelowna’s City Park

A body has been found and recovered from the lake off Kelowna City Park.

The RCMP E Division Underwater Recovery Team successfully retrieved the body Monday, June 2, which was identified as a male. The body was initially spotted earlier Monday morning.

Police are not giving any more details, but said there are no concerns for public safety, as this was an isolated incident with no suspected criminality involved.

In a statement, police said the BC Coroners’ services have taken over jurisdiction of the file, and the Kelowna RCMP are continuing to assist in the investigation.

Police expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation throughout the recovery operation and the partial closure of the park.

No further updates will be provided out of respect for those affected by this unfortunate incident.
