Strafish program providing meals to local school children
An organization that ensures local children have healthy meals started their work this week.
The North Okanagan Starfish Program began delivering bags with two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, snacks, fruit and vegetables to school children throughout the North okanagan this week.
The organization plans to continue the work through the entire school year, with the goal of providing meals for students throughout the region to eat over the weekends so they don’t go hungry.
“We started the year with 209 bags and expect to exceed 240 bags a week in the coming months,” Starfish’s Director of Operations, Darryl O’Brian, said.
