Water quality advisory issued after water outage

Jul 8, 2024 | 4:30 PM

Some Vernon residents have been put on a water quality advisory after their water service was interrupted.

The Regional District of North Okanagan said an unplanned water outage occurred on Monday, July 8 and water service had to be turned off homes on 34A Street between addresses 2307-2403 and 24th Avenue between addresses 3405-3501, including 3601.

“Starting on July 8, this area will be on a Water Quality Advisory (WQA) until 48 hours after water is returned to service,” the RDNO said in a news release. “During this time, you may notice reduced water pressure, air in the water, discoloration and/or increased turbidity (cloudiness). Please run a cold tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.”

The level of treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however some customers may want to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits & vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.

“This WQA will be rescinded on Wednesday, July 10 at 7 p.m. without further notice from the RDNO,” the release stated.
