Mar 21, 2024 | 7:00 AM

The support for Enderby’s 2024 Hockeyville bid is growing faster than a Filip Hronek slapshot.

The North Okanagan city of 3,000 residents is in the Canadian final four for the annual contest put on by Kraft Heinz. The winner receives $250,000 for arena upgrades, which Enderby will use on its arena which has been shut down since January due to an issue with the refrigeration system. Hosting an NHL pre-season game is also part of the contest.

Cochrane, Alberta, Wolseley, Saskatchewan and Elliot Lake, Ontario are the other communities in the running

The voting for the final four begins at 6 a.m. B.C. time on March 29 and ends on March 30 at 2 p.m.

People can vote as many times as they like but you have to be registered on the Kraft Hockeyville site.

The winner will be announced on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday, March 30.

Angie Clowry, the team leader of Lumby’s Hockeyville title in 2016, said Enderby and neighbouring areas have started to show their support creating videos online, sharing old hockey photos, changing their business signs, putting up posters and changing their advertising on radio, TV and online to support Enderby’s bid.

“The 2016 Kraft Hockeyville winner, the Village of Lumby’s council, has made a video of support, heli skiers on top of Revelstoke have as well, while Vernon and Penticton Bobcat stores shared photos on their socials supporting Enderby,” Clowry said.

Beach Radio and other radio stations, newspapers and online media outlets in the valley are also encourageing people to get on board the Enderby train.

Clowry has created a Facebook group to keep people up to date called the ‘Vote Enderby for Kraft Hockeyville.’
