Vernon’s Coldest Night of the Year supports housing security
While the actual weather that day is not known, Feb. 24th will be the Coldest Night of the Year in Vernon.
The Canadian Mental Health Association Vernon & District will once again host the fundraising winter walk by that name that shows support for people at risk of homelessness.
The goal is to raise $40,000 for the North Okanagan Rent Bank which provides housing stability to individuals and families experiencing short-term financial difficulties.
Julia Payson, CMHA executive director Vernon and District, said many people are only a paycheque or two away from not being able to cover rent.
