Vernon places 35th in B.C. crime rate study

Vernon came in 35th in British Columbia in an annual report of crime rates among the 183 communities that were surveyed.

The numbers from Statistics Canada, were from 2022.

Vernon had a crime rate of 14206 per 100,000 population.

Fort St. James had the highest crime rate in B.C., followed by Masset and Quesnel.

The Central Okanagan ranked second in Canada among metropolitan areas on the crime severity index which officials say is driven by property crimes.
