Vernon residents fill bins to reduce fire threat
A local company has worked with some Vernon residents to reduce the wildfire danger in their neighbourhood.
For the second year, the waste removal firm, Dump Runz, donated the use of several brush bins at Canadian Lakeview Estates (CLE) at the far end of Tronson Road to allow residents to remove flammable material from the area free of charge.
The company said the intent of the donation was to reduce the fuel load on one of the most wooded and exposed areas of Vernon.
“As the Fire Smart director for the Canadian Lakeview Estates community in Vernon, we have been extremely fortunate to have Dump Runz work with us for the past two years in our effort to meet our objectives in making our community safe in the event of a wildfire,” said Jim Dubois, Fire Smart director.
