One dead, one injured after motorcycle hits deer

Jun 27, 2022 | 2:25 PM

RCMP have released details of the second of two fatal motorcycle crashes in the Kamloops area over the weekend.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say it happened Saturday (June 25) just before 9:00 p.m. in the 700-block of Tod Mountain Road, also known as Heffley-Louis Creek Road, near Heffley Creek.

Cpl. Dana Napier, spokesperson for Kamloops RCMP, says a motorcycle travelling westbound collided with a deer and left the road.

A female rider was pronounced dead at the scene, while another person was taken to hospital. Napier says neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors in the crash.

Anyone with further information on the crash, including dashcam footage, is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000.

A crash along Highway 5A near Quilchena Ranch earlier in the day killed a man from the Lower Mainland.
