Cancer found in Horgan’s throat, will begin treatment immediately

The lump found in the throat of B.C. Premier John Horgan is cancerous.

Horgan announced Thursday that results of the surgery and biopsy he had last week for the lump have been confirmed as cancer.

Despite this, Horgan remains positive, saying in a release that his prognosis is good and he expects to make a full recovery.

“In the next couple of weeks I will need to start radiation treatment, which will conclude towards the end of December,” said Horgan.

Horgan, 62, stated that while undergoing treatment, he will continue to participate virtually in briefings, cabinet meetings, and other meetings like the Council of the Federation.

Minister of Public Affairs and Solicitor General Mike Farnworth and other cabinet ministers will take the place of Horgan for any in-person events until he has recovered.

Horgan said he plans be back in the legislature in the new year.
