371 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Interior over the weekend

The province reports that 4,749 COVID-19 cases were reported between Sept. 10 and 16. Of those cases, 3,266, or 68.8 per cent, were unvaccinated individuals, 7.5 per cent, or 355 individuals, were only partially vaccinated, and the remaining 23.7 per cent, or 1,126 people, had received both jabs.

There was 307 British Columbians in hospital due to COVID-19 complications as of Monday, and 156 of those patients were in intensive care units.

The provincial data shows that between Sept. 3 and 16, 401 British Columbians were admitted to hospital due to COVID-19. The unvaccinated accounted for 319, or 79.6 per cent, of those patients, 22 partially vaccinated individuals made up 5.5 per cent of hospital admissions, and the remaining 15 per cent, or 60 individuals, were fully vaccinated.

There were also 11 deaths recorded in B.C. over the weekend, six in the Fraser Health region, two in the Vancouver Coastal Health zone, and three in Northern Health’s jurisdiction. A total of 1,899 British Columbians have now died due to COVID-19.

A new health-care facility outbreak was announced at the Overlander in the Interior, bringing the total number of active outbreak in B.C. up to 21 with 13 of those sites located in the Interior.

The provincial first dose vaccination rate for British Columbians age 12 and over rose to 86.8 per cent, while the amount of eligible residents who have received both shots increased to 79.4 per cent.
