Local restaurants forced to make patio alterations

Interior Health inspectors have been busy making sure local eateries are following the provincial health orders, banning indoor dining.

At least two, and perhaps others, were told their outdoor patios were too indoor, and had to make changes.

“To comply with new restrictions, we are having to make some changes to our patio. For the time being our heated patio is not currently open and we have very limited seating on the sidewalk out front,” Brown’s Social House posted on its Facebook site Tuesday night (April 28).

“With that being said, we will be closing at 8 p.m. again tonight, we are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but we are working on getting our regular patio back up and running ASAP! Thankyou for your continued support,” the restaurant’s statement added.

The company had to remove some glass partitions to make the patio more open air.

The same was the case for Kelly O’Bryans.

“Well, we have made another massive adjustment to our “Paddy’o” after having yet another curveball thrown at us by the powers that be. We will always do our best to make sure that all our loyal pacho lovers out there have a safe place to eat!” Kelly O’Bryans posted on their social media.

There is an extensive list of rules within a 14 page document, regarding what public health officials consider an acceptable patio.

Dozens of premises were inspected, and it’s unknown if others were required to make alterations.
