In wake of new health orders, Armstrong supports sidewalk patios

Mar 30, 2021 | 3:11 PM

In light of the new three week ban on indoor dining announced by the province Monday, the City of Armstrong will permit restaurants and liquor establishments to use city sidewalks and parking spaces for temporary patio spaces.

“Should an extension be required, the city will respond at that time. As this is a rapidly changing situation there may be a need to change or adapt things as we go. Ensuring that businesses remain operational is a priority but they also want to ensure we focus on public safety with these adaptations,” a bulletin posted by the city stated.

There are some restrictions, including allowing foot traffic to continue to flow, and other requirements.

“If you need assistance with tents, heaters, delineators or suggestions how to make this work for your business, don’t hesitate to contact me. We can make this work together! And thank you to the City of Armstrong council and staff for this support,” Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Patti Noonan said.
