Okanagan Spring launches socially conscious beer

Vernon-based Okanagan Spring Brewery is out with its latest brew and drinking it will help a couple of organizations.

“Our new ‘Terrace Mountain Session IPA’ is packed with tropical fruit flavour in an easy drinking 4.1 per cent brew. Named after the Okanagan’s rejuvenated Terrace Mountain, once devastated by wildfire, partial proceeds will aid wildfire prevention in partnership with FireSmart B.C. and the Canadian Red Cross,” said Stefan Tobler, Okanagan Spring brew master.

The July 2009 fire burned 9,300 hectares and saw the evacuation of 2,200 people from the North Westside.

Okanagan Spring Brewery will donate $0.50 cents for every six-pack and $0.10 for every pint sold in 2021 to the Canadian Red Cross, up to $20,000, to aid wildfire prevention and relief across BC.

FireSmart BC is a provincial program, based on the FireSmart Canada model, committed to educating British Columbians on the risks of wildfires and mitigating their impact through the implementation of homeowner and community based solutions.
