Village Market may re-open

Dec 21, 2020 | 5:25 AM

A fixture of Vernon’s Hospital Hill neighborhood for decades might be making a comeback.

The Village Market at 1900 32 Street has been closed for the past few years, leaving the area without any kind of neighborhood store.

The market was once known for it excellent butcher counter, bakery and produce, but quality had declined sharply before it shut its doors.

The property, which includes a residence above, was put up for lease earlier this year.

A company called Rongma Enterprise Corporation is advertising for a manager, grocery buyer, baker and other positions on multiple job platforms.

The job listing had this description, “The Vernon Village Market is a grocery store located in the heart of Vernon. In order to help our community better access to fresh farm fruits and veggies, artisans food, meat and other unique products, the market is planning to reopen soon.”

Vernon Matters has reached out to the company for comment.
