Major redevelopment of the former Canadian Tire site

A long rumoured revamp of the former Canadian Tire store on 27th Street appears to be making some headway.

A subdivision application is in process to remove the portion of land for the Vernon Storage Centre from the property utilized by the Canadian Tire gas bar.

Kevin Poole, manager of economic development and tourism, in his economic update for Vernon council reports there was an application to place a 50,000 square foot second storey on top of the current 58,000 square foot building.

No timelines were given for the redevelopment.

The building at 4512 27 Street has been vacant since Canadian Tire moved to a larger location. Since May 2016, it is now operating at the former Target store site in the Village Green Centre.
