18-year-old woman facing assault charges

A teenager was seriously assaulted at the Polson Park skate park Sunday evening.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP arrived on the scene about 7:30 p.m. along with paramedics to attend to a youth with several lacerations. She was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Police also located an 18-year old female suspect and recovered a weapon. The unidentified female is charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

“At the time of the incident, there were numerous youth in the vicinity,” RCMP Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer, said. “Both parties were known to each other.”
