Truck used in ATM theft at Vernon business

Oct 5, 2020 | 12:51 PM

A Vernon fuel station was the victim of a smash and dash over the weekend.

A police officer was gassing up his vehicle and noticed damage to the front door of a business in the 3300 block of 48th Avenue, believed to be the Petro-Pass.

It was later determined unknown suspects gained entry to the business through the front doors around 1:45 a.m. Sunday and removed the automated teller machine.

“The suspects left the scene in a dark coloured Ford truck, with stolen licence plates,” Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer with the RCMP, said. “The truck is possibly an F-350 with a unique decal in the rear window. A vehicle, stolen from a nearby business, was recovered at the scene.”

Police have not yet recovered the ATM.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Constable Helgerson at the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP non-emergency line of 250-545-7171, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online at www.nokscrimestoppers.com.
