Master plan input deadline extended by regional district

Sep 25, 2020 | 10:18 AM

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) has extended the deadline to complete surveys and interactive mapping for multiple parks, recreation and trails master plans.

The public engagement period will now close on October 30, 2020. The plans will guide RDNO decisions about the acquisition, development, enhancement and management of parks, trails, recreation, arts and culture facilities and programs for the next 10 years.

Those include:

  • Greater Vernon Trails and Natural Spaces Master Plan
(This area includes Electoral Areas B [Swan Lake / Commonage], Electoral Area C [BX / Silver Star], City of Vernon, District of Coldstream)
  • Area ‘F’ Parks & Trails Master Plan
(This area includes Electoral Area F)
  • · White Valley Parks & Recreation Master Plan and Arts & Culture Master Plan
(This area includes Electoral Areas D [Rural Lumby] and E [Cherryville], and Village of Lumby)

Previous parks and trails master plans have resulted in the development of much-loved trails, like connections and expansions on the BX Creek Trail, and the Grey Canal Trail.

Respondents can share their insights about existing and desired hiking trails, boat launches, horseback riding, nature viewing, camping, fishing, or anything else they can come up with.
