A Vernon volleyball player has been named to the U-19 national team.

Liam Remple, 16, played volleyball this past season for the Vernon Christian School Royals and Sky U-18 Boys Club team.

The teen, who is six-feet-eight-inches tall, is a middle blocker with a reported 40-inch vertical jump.

Remple has been a part of the Team BC program for the last four years and was a member of the U-18 Select Team BC program last summer winning a gold medal at the Canada Cup in Nova Scotia.

This past season, the Vernon Christian School boys’ volleyball team won its second high school single A provincial gold championship and also won the prestigious Best of the West tournament hosted in Kelowna.

Remple was named first team all-star at both championships.

Remple, who will be in grade 12 in the fall, has received a scholarship offer to play for the reigning national champions, Trinity Western Spartans in 2021.

He plans on signing a letter of intent this September.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Volleyball Canada has chosen to run a virtual program to prepare for the 2021 World Championships.
