Celebrity Classic Golf fundraiser postponed to 2021

The 5th annual Okanagan Celebrity Classic at Predator Ridge in July won’t be held this year due to the Covid outbreak.

Organizers have set July 13 and 14, 2021 for the next event that features celebrity golfers raising funds for a local charity which was JoeAnna’s House this year.

NHL players like Shea Weber, Justin Schultz, Josh Gorges, James Reimer, Scott Hartnell, and Brayden Schenn, along with other celebrities, have helped the event raised close to half-million dollars in its first four years.

Event founder Patrick Sullivan said the health crisis and requirements for physical distancing in B.C. and at Predator Ridge were the main reasons fore cancelling the event.

“We are heartbroken and saddened by this announcement, but at the same time know that it’s important that we go beyond the highest standards with our amazing event,” said Sullivan. “The goal has always been quite simple: provide a fun and exciting golf event, surrounded by the beauty of Predator Ridge and energy of local celebrity golfers, while raising funds and awareness for a local, family-focused charity organization.

Sullivan added they want to support their sponsors and contributors in the process, and give back the most they can, building off every year.

“And not being able to fulfill that goal in 2020 or the resulting donation to JoeAnna’s House and our community is devastating to all of us,” he stated.

Organizers are still accepting pledges of commitment and support for next year’s event, when the proceeds will go to JoeAnna’s House and YMCA Strong Kids.

“Thank you so much for your support and patience as we navigate these difficult times together,” said event coordinator, Heather Sharpe of Sherpa Group Events. “We look forward to seeing you on the links or in the rinks again soon.”
